Use twitter.com as the server. @developer: It would be nice to include this in your description too so people aren't forced to hunt.
# by jdsippel on 04/09/09 at 11:13:30Note - the plugin now defaults the hostname to twitter.com so all you need is username and password! Happy Tweeting!
# by -KingROFL- on 04/12/09 at 06:23:10Works very well! Thanks for this awesome Plugin. I always forget to look at Twitter :D So this helps me!
5 Ducks # by lordofthefobs on 04/15/09 at 11:10:08it works great and all.. but it's bit annoying that the plug in will post my away message or auto replay idle message on my twitter... wish there was a way to easily disable that;;
# by crazyj on 04/15/09 at 19:15:49I'm using 0.2.1 and occasionally (a couple times during the workday) it seems that Adium begins consuming a lot of CPU and then freezes and then crashes. I never had this problem before installing TwitterIM. What info can I send to help you diagnose the problem?
# by jdsippel on 04/15/09 at 21:47:08crazyj - can you post a new issue to http://code.google.com/p/microblog-purple/ and include your current versions of OSX, Adium, as well as whether you have an intel or ppc mac?
# by t-muh on 04/16/09 at 16:34:20We recently published a quick tutorial about setting up TwitterIM in Adium. You can find it here:
http://www.geeks2null.de/961/twittern...ur-macos-x/ Its wirtten in german but we have many screenshots in it, so you can easily use this tutorial even if you dont speak german. # by apakin on 04/23/09 at 07:35:40I installed TwitterIM, but dont see it in the list of protocols.
TwitterIM.AdiumLibpurplePlugin on Adium 1.3.3 on PowerPC G5 under 10.4.11 Detail on the screenshot: http://img.skitch.com/20090423-q512e9...nmhfrd8.jpg # by albailey27 on 04/25/09 at 23:08:39The new 1.3.4 version of adium seems to have killed this.. :-( At least for me anyway...
Al. # by Bmw333 on 05/06/09 at 16:46:03I am having the same problem as albailey27. Upon upgrading to 1.3.4 it says the twitter plugin is installed but when you try to setup an account twitter is not even an option!
# by Dopefish on 05/16/09 at 11:08:04The reason it's not working for some of you is because it is not a universal plugin. It's compiled as i386 only. If you want to go through the trouble yourself, you can download the source for Adium 1.3.3 and microblog-purple and compile a universal image that works on i386 and ppc.
# by jdsippel on 05/21/09 at 15:07:57So I finally got around to fixing the 1.3.4 problem. Should work again - try downloading http://mbpurple-devel.googlegroups.co...-0.2.1b.zip if the Adium folks haven't pushed the new file yet. In addition, for those of you on OSX 10.4.X - I have only tested and compiled on 10.5, and I think the differences in glib are enough to hose the plugin.
# by jdsippel on 06/15/09 at 02:46:35All - please note that the underlying libpurple twitter plugin just encountered an overflow on the twitter id (twitter is just too popular!). I have released a new version of the plugin (0.2.2) that fixes this issue. I don't know how long it will take to get the update approved by the Adium folks - in the meantime feel free to download @ http://mbpurple-devel.googlegroups.co...n-0.2.2.zip.
# by maczealot on 07/22/09 at 03:42:48It still doesn't work. I installed both of the updates you posted here and still no mention of Twitter in the list of accounts or anywhere in the preferences. I'm running ver 1.3.5 on Leopard 10.5.7. The next version of Adium will have support for Twitter built in anyway. It's in beta now from what I've read. - http://natemylott.mp
# by Elwood_G on 08/02/09 at 19:50:24Any chance that one can get a universal binary of this? I am using adium on a powerbook.
Konstantin # by kendellrt on 08/14/09 at 01:40:15Ok, maybe this is a stupid issue, but I have installed the plug-in and it shows up in the xtras manager, but I can't find any place in Adium to actually set it up. What am I missing?
# by vitorrazuk on 01/13/10 at 06:28:13I believe that this may be a virus or spyware, I tried, it doesn't work and since I clicked on the "Install" button from TwitterIM my Mac isn't the same, it got a bit slow and some app start crashing, I suggest wait for Adium 1.4 with Twitter login until the creator proves otherwise.
# by jdsippel on 01/13/10 at 13:16:30As the creator, I can attest this isn't spyware. The more accurate answer is that Adium has been upgrading libpurple (the actual library that does the connectivity stuff) very frequently, and I just haven't had time to upgrade the plugin. In addition, don't even try to use this plugin on PPC hardware or an OS earlier than Leopard. If I have time, I will upload the latest version of the plugin ASAP.
