Description

This piano soundset uses blues scales and voicings in its runs and chords. I generated the sounds using the Live Grand Piano patch from the GarageBand Rhythm Section Jam Pack.

This soundset, like my others, is a compositional experiment for me. I've designed this set to express a musical idea while also remaining simple and functional. Many other soundsets (including the official AIM and MSN alerts) merely resort to using basic major triads and consonant intervals like a perfect fifth or fourth. I wanted to develop something with a little more sophisticated music theory, incorporating dissonances and suspensions.

The sounds activate on the following events: Connect, Disconnect, Contact Sign On, Contact Sign Off, New Message Received, Message Sent, Message Received, and Error.

Although the Connect and Disconnect sounds are too long could you update it so that they're included, just not set to be on as default?

I am going to try to rewrite them as shorter licks, and will release them in a later version (hopefully by the end of June 2006). The originals, which weigh in at a hefty five seconds apiece, really are way too long to be functional at all. That, and, well, I think I can do better as a pianist and composer. Listening to them now, it's like I was so in love with the sound of my own playing that I didn't realize the licks actually stunk. ;)

I actually like longer sounds; feel everything else is too brief [or maybe that's because no one chats to me :( ]

I'm eventually going to revisit and possibly rewrite parts of this soundset. I'm still not happy with the Connect and Disconnect alerts, among other things.
