Glow Light

Glow Light

Submitted By desp

A simple and well-rounded message style, with support for custom backgrounds and transparency.

This is an updated version of Glow, containing only the light variants. For the dark variants, check out Glow Dark.

There’s a minor problem with the message style preview mechanism in the Adium preferences window — the lower corners of the message bubbles fail to refresh properly while changing variants. To force Adium to refresh them, simply choose the new variant a second time, or close and reopen the preferences window.

  • Fixed consecutive status messages to display properly

  • Split the message style in half.
  • Added support for custom backgrounds and transparency.
  • Added more color variants — currently includes Blue vs Green, Blue vs Grey, Blue vs Red, Green vs Blue, Green vs Grey, Green vs Red, Grey vs Blue, Grey vs Green, Grey vs Grey, Grey vs Red, Red vs Blue, Red vs Green, Red vs Grey.
  • Fixed a spacing issue — the first message bubble in a message window containing less than a whole windowful of messages would have no padding underneath.
  • Fixed a font size issue — changing the font size to anything more than 10 pixels would break the layout.

  • Initial release.

Awesome again, I can't think of anything I'd change!

How do you make the background transparent?

# by desp on 09/06/06 at 18:07:46

In the Messages preference pane turn on the "Use custom background" option, then click the color well to show the Colors window, which contains an Opacity slider.

Opacity will be in Adium 1.0 (the next release)

# by zipper on 09/08/06 at 14:49:39

Yeah, I tried that, the only problem being that there is no opacity slider, so either you are doing something I am not, or, more likely, you are using Beta 1.0, guess I will just have to wait untill they release it, as I do not like running betas

Even better than the original! 5 ducks

doesn't seem to respect font preference, when set to 12 pt it still renders at 10... otherwise great job

It looks cool, but I think it's too big for me. Nice job though! :]

I used this for quite a while (I LOVE the green and blue variant) but then in got funky with v.1. On the bright (or should I say, light (sorry, bad pun)) side it introduced my to creating my own styles. Anyway, really cool style.

Cool theme, but it gets quite messed up if the screen name is longer than one line (quite common on MSN)

I love this message theme !! I been using it for a pretty long time now, but i had a suggestion.

I was using the new iChat on Leopard the other day and noticed that you could use a boxe chat view, that kinda looks like this theme, except the colors are sort of reversed and there is the icons on the left side.

I wish i knew how to create a theme to make it, but unfortunately i never managed to wrap my head around it.

So i was asking you if you would feel like making the iChat boxes one??? Pleaaaase!! Pretty pleasse!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry. I quit using Adium in favor of iChat 4.0, so I won't be working on any Adium add-ons now.
